It is a really long way from Denmark to Italy by bicycle. But nevertheless, the first three stages of the prestigious races took place in Denmark in 2012. The third stage started and ended in Horsens, and the city in central Jutland had put every ounce of energy into the work and had planned 5 days long program up to the stage start on May 7'th, and here SallingPlast was actively involved in the process.
Horsens was of course organized and decorated with a bicycle theme to the occasion. Among other things, with a huge drinking bottle as an eye-catcher in the start area. Wonderland Design has been given the task of creating bicycle atmosphere in Horsens, and the manufacture of the large drinking bottel ended in Ranum after request with several companies withint the plastic industry.
"We usually solve the jobs, others cannot. There is nothing that cannot be done, before it has been tried a couple of times", says Kenneth Gjørup, sales manager at SallingPlast. And the job was done.
A 3½ meter high plastic bottle weighing approx. 200 kg was delivered to Horsens. Here it was half filled up with water, so that it was not in danger of overturning. It was arranged that water could be connected, so that it functioned as a water fountain.
Ranum Autolakering has painted the bottle in Giro d'Italia's well-known pink color.
The first stage of the Giro d'Italia was run on Mahy 5 as a time trial in Herning. The second stage started in Herning and went through Lemvig and Ringkøbing and back to Herning. The third stage was run in and around Horsens whereafter the 18 final stages were run in Italy.
