When training to become a plastics engineer, you get knowledge of both materials and machines, so you can produce new and exciting products made of plastics. What you learn at school, you will try out in the plastic company. During the training you are employed in a plastic company - and you will get paid during all 4 years.
School is the technical school of Jutland in Hadsten just to the north of Aarhus. Extremely few people drop out of the training.
During training you will learn how to set up and shape tools on the plastic machines. You also get the necessary knowledge, so that you can work with the production of plastic products within one of the following three areas: Injection moulding, extrusion and thermo moulding, as well as thermoset plastics.
You will also learn to set up, start, monitor, and do maintenance on large machines and robots. In addition you will learn how to calculate the costs for a production, as well as plan and develop production of various plastic products.
Of course you will learn to work in teams, so you will be good at cooperating with the entire production line in the companies. During training you will also receive education in a number of other subjects, among other things, product development, work environment, first aid and fire, Danish, social sciences and information technology.
When you are trained plastics engineer, you have the opportunity to take another training and become a plastics specialist. Rudi Virenfeldt Larsen chose to do this. (only available in Danish)
